AN EXCITING DECISION

3 weeks ago, I received the invitation from my church to be part of the new Project searching to exalt God’s Kingdom here in Guatemala.

During this time I was looking for guidance from God to make good decisions, I had nothing sure but the opportunity to work at a Local church with the Youth Ministry, and when everything seem to be heading in that direction things turned and overnight God confirmed just the Job at my church.

This past October 1st, I started to coordinate the evangelism, Discipleship, Pastoral Care and Social Ministries here at church. But 1 day after I had already started here at church, I got an email from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago notifying me that I had been accepted to study an Intercultural Studies Masters Program.

This was great news, but now I have the dilemma of what is the best thing to do. I am just starting a new and exciting ministry, and I believe this is part of the preparation process that I have to go through before leaving for the field. But, I also need the preparation (Theology, Philosophy, and Sociology) so that I can have more tools and weapons to work on the field. Moody is offering me an exciting and complete program for a missionary that wants to serve in postmodern or liberal cultures such as the ones in Europe and Northamerica.

So in these days I am praying so that God can clarify the path, can assure me with the best path to take. Please help me pray for this, so that God speaks forcefully to my heart.

Health for the Health students

Yesterday for the second time I visited the Medicine Faculty of the biggest university in Guatemala.

Last Wednesday, we were there around the campus praying together with my friend Cayetano Fresco (Sanca). He is the national director of the University Movement with Campus Crusade for Christ in Guatemala. Sanca had been praying for a person to be part of this ministry. Without knowing that, I called him on a Monday and told him “Sanca, I want to be part of the evangelization of colleges” a long silence followed my words and after that he answered “You know Carlos, I have been praying this past week for someone to come with me and evangelize the medicine faculty”. God is Amazing!! Isn’t He?

So that is how last Wednesday we began praying around the campus (I felt like the Israelites surrounding Jericho) and after that time we started looking for people to who we could share the Gospel. I had the opportunity to share with 3 students, had a long conversation and finally they trusted me with their personal phone numbers. Please pray for Jose Carlos, Jose and Dalia.

Yesterday we went back to the University, but this time one friend accepted my invitation to come and share the gospel with us. So this week it was 3 of us, we again surrounded the campus and prayed, prayed, and prayed. On our path I run into a friend and probably next week he is going to join us.

Finally I met David, to whom I was able to share the gospel; he was willing to meet with me next Wednesday so please pray for David too.

Pray for Dareck, a kid that Sanca met, for Ariel and Alvaro friends of mine that study there so that they join us too.

I believe as Christians that knowing what Jesus did for us on the cross we need to share it with others. Pray, so that the words sown on the Hearts of these students can give fruit like in the parable of the sower.

HOPE FOR THOSE WITHOUT HOPE

I have been back in Guatemala for a few months now, and for some of you I have been very silent.

The truth is, that these months have been time to pray, to look for God's guidance for the new stage of my life.

As some of you know, God called me to His service and since 2006 I have been leaving by faith and the past few months haven't been the exception, eventhough as always when you arrive back to your home town the offerings have drop down. For that matter I have started my visits to people and institutions to share the project that God has called me for life, and it is basically to BRING HOPE TO THOSE WITHOUT HOPE. I also would like to share with you that for 22 months I have been in a serious relationship with a beautiful girl from North Carolina, USA and this past August 13^th we got engaged. The date of the wedding it is not sure yet, but I will be letting you know.
